Planning your cake
When planning your cake
their are a few things worth thinking about, perhaps you would like
different cakes on each tier a preferred option by most ,chocolate
cake,
fruit cake and coconut cake for example, fruit cake has to be the the bottom
tier being the heavier unless you opt for separate cakes on a stand,
having different types of cakes pleases all your guests when
estimating the amount of cake you need sponge cake is usually cut in
larger portions my sizes and portions are based on fruit cake, If
the cake is being served as dessert more is needed, all my cakes are
suitable for dessert fruit being the exception.
When pricing a cake
sponge is not as expensive as chocolate cake and fruit cake, however having
different types of cake for each tier if it includes chocolate or
fruit or both is priced the same as fruit and chocolate.
You may only need a
three tier cake but prefer the look and height of a four tier this
can be achieved by having a cake dummie as the top tier
decorated the same as the rest of the cake for a few pounds more and
your guests will never know. happy planning.
